We are Ten Guys and a Girl

"We are ten guys and a girl, [all] under the age of 21, playing traditional swing," said keyboardist Dave Martina, a member of High Stakes Swing. "The only other band I know that plays swing is in Victorville."

The last show the band played, the act following them was "wearing death masks, dreadlocks, and their amps were about ten feet high."

The band returns to the Metaphor Café in Escondido this weekend. "We made over $1000 the second night we played," said Martina. "We pulled in over 300 people."

High Stakes Swing (www.highstakesswing.com) appears Saturday at 6 p.m. and at 9:30 p.m. at the Metaphor Café, all ages, $5 admission.
