Guitarist Jonny "2 Bags" Wickersham Joined Social Distortion

Guitarist Jonny "2 Bags" Wickersham joined Social Distortion when cofounder Dennis Danell died five years ago. Before that he played in the Cadillac Tramps.

"We used to come down and play Iguanas," he said, referring to the defunct Tijuana venue (in operation from 1989 to1994). "We opened for the Cramps on New Year's Eve....On the way back there was a huge wait. I found out later...when they asked the Cramps where they were from, someone said, 'Mars.' They didn't like that."

I ask if rumors are true that Social D will be opening for Green Day for a fall tour.

"I can neither confirm nor deny."

Social Distortion appears tomorrow and Saturday with Backyard Babies and the Streetdogs at Soma, all ages; sold out.
