Concerts by Blink-182

Concerts by blink-182 grossed more last year than tours by Kiss, the Eagles, Norah Jones, or Bob Dylan.

Proving that backyard Poway parties may not be a bad place from which to launch a career, blink accounted for $17.2 million in concert ticket sales in 2004.

Jewel's $3.9 million concert proceeds made hers the 122nd biggest-grossing tour of 2004, tied with 50 Cent and Luciano Pavarotti.

Business at Coors Amphitheatre was way off from the previous year. In 2003 Coors sold more than 224,000 tickets. Last year the Chula Vista amphitheater moved only 173,830 tickets.

This is all according to the year-end issue of Pollstar, the magazine that covers the national concert industry.

The most successful local music showcase on Pollstar's list was Humphrey's, which was ranked 35th with 71,000 tickets, while Soma was 53rd with 46,820, and 4th & B came in 96th with 20,175. Soma owner Len Paul notes, "That doesn't count any of our local shows."
