The Promoter Accidentally Booked Rock Bands and Hip-Hop on the Same Night

"The promoter accidentally booked rock bands and hip-hop on the same night," says Buzzkill Romantics singer/guitarist Jason Hee about an April 1 show at downtown's Roseary Room (Tenth and E). His band never ended up performing. "While we were setting up, some hip-hop guys asked us if they could do some freestyle beats from the stage, and we were cool with that. Then there was some arguing between them and people from the club. I think it was mainly over them wanting to take drinks outside more than about the booking glitch."

Hee says a brawl broke out between "a handful of people. Next thing I know, someone throws a chair through a showcase, knocking over a cash register, and some guy is walking around with a bleeding gash in his head." Patron combatants all fled the venue, and Hee says his girlfriend reports seeing a handgun brandished outside shortly before police arrived. "I didn't see any of that; I was packing up to go home, which is what I did."
