One New York Weekly Writes

One New York weekly writes of Switchfoot, "The San Diego Christian rock quartet whose major-label breakthrough The Beautiful Letdown might be the most intelligent, least hysterical piece of alt-rock evangelism I've ever heard. And, yep, that's even counting Pedro the Lion! Throughout the album, frontman Jon Foreman, a shaggy blond-haired Owen Wilson look-alike, floats sentiments Ralph Nader would find safe at any speed: 'We want more than the wars of our fathers'; 'I want to see miracles, to see the world change.' Foreman proselytizes like one of those old hippie dudes you see outside Borders reading bad poetry; he wants to save you, but not if it means surrendering the intellectual privilege shaggy blond-haired dudes receive with a birth certificate."

According to Billboard magazine, "A family emergency has pulled San Diego--based rock act Unwritten Law off of the road. The band will not complete the seven dates remaining on its headlining U.S. club tour...bassist Pat Kim's father was hospitalized earlier this week with an undisclosed serious ailment. According to a statement, the band decided to cancel the tour so Kim could be at his side. The band, which was touring with Denver Harbor and Dropping Daylight in tow, plans to reschedule the canceled dates early next year. It was unknown at deadline if the support acts will play the shows as scheduled."
