"They Decided San Diego Wasn't Important Enough for Them"

"They decided San Diego wasn't important enough for them," says one Z90 employee about Mase and Juvenile not showing up to the $33-a-ticket (plus $10 Ticketmaster fee) Z90 "Jingle Jam" concert December 2 at the San Diego Sports Arena. "They gave a big 'F-U' to San Diego."

Z-90 program director Diana Laird had no comment.

However, a radio exec from a competing station (who wanted to remain anonymous) had this insight: "I heard that Mase was not 100 percent confirmed." Pitbull and John Legend did appear.

According to the same exec, "The way you get around this [canceled artists on a multiband bill] is you put a sign on the front door that tells everybody who canceled. That way, people can ask for their money back. I was there. There was no sign at the door."

Mase is represented by Multi Entertainment, Inc., of Lake Mary, Florida. Tashea Ferguson of Multi Entertainment said, "I don't know what you're talking about," when asked about the December 2 Mase booking. "Mase was never booked for that show."

Leketa Lambert is the publicist for Juvenile. When asked about the December 2 no-show, she responded, "I have no idea about none of that. I haven't the slightest clue."

Calls to managers and record labels for answers were not returned.

Z-90, a Clear Channel station, announced for weeks that Juvenile (Atlantic Records) and Mase (Universal/Bad Boy Records) would be part of the show. It would seem, if you were operating on only a promise of an appearance, you would pick an artist who isn't with Bad Boy Records.
