San diego is a tourist city. We are known for our military presence, sea world, the zoo, and many other attractions. But the attractions i see daily living in the encanto neighborhood are trolley cops and traffic stops. On a daily basis i can count at least 10 traffic stops being made on my trips down to the encanto rec or to the liquor store or on my way to school. And during most of the traffic stops i witness the somber faces of many who usually avoid the police like a spider your trying to catch and it just keeps getting past you until you finally catch it. I wonder to myself what has this person done? Or are the police bored or trying to meet quotas or just trying to earn money for our debt ridden city. Then there are the trolley cops i see standing at the trolley station verifying that everyone has a valid pass or ticket and trying to get the normal group of loitering teens to leave. Most of these trolley cops have an aspiration to become actual police officers most of the rest are working class people just trying to make ends meet or pay for school. To me, these are the real attractions that help to make up the real character of this great city, not just the zoo or sea world. Many families cant afford to take thier children to those attractions because of financial restrictions. But if they want to have a good time and see some attractions for free just come check out the trolley cops and the traffic stops and i guarantee itll be better then watching some reality shows like on VH1.
