Celebrate fresh, community fun Saturday at Go Local - Golden Hill at the Market

Golden Hill Famers Market throws a party amongst their usual local goods booths.

Tired of the same ol' same ol' while perusing farmers market booths?

Looking to inject a little excitement in your Saturday morning routine?

The organizers over at the Golden Hill Farmer's Market have got your number with Go Local Day - Golden Hill.

On Saturday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m, Go Local Day will transform the Golden Hill Farmer's Market (2740 B Street- between 27th & 28th streets) into a scene out of a child's - nay, young-at-heart adult's - dream birthday party.

This community celebration promises cooking demos, face painting, balloon artistry, an inflatable bouncy, and more - all while surrounded by the fresh local produce normally present at this weekly market.

There will be free prize drawings where you will have a chance to win locally-donated prizes, including a 16x20 print of Golden Hill taken by local photographer and artist Michael James.

This day will also mark the farmer's market booth debut of In-Stead, promoters of "local, sustainable culture & ethical businesses", who will be selling "awesome locally made goods" from a variety of vendors including live portraits (for tips) by True Delorenzo and essential oil aromatherapy.

In-Stead will also fulfill worm lovers' dreams everywhere, even those whom are simply worm-curious, by holding a "compost worm show & tell".

The folks from new San Diego-based KPBS gardening television series A Growing Passion will be on hand with information about their show and offering opportunities to plant seedlings to take home to your own garden.

In short, all of the ingredients to get you out of your farmers market routine doldrums.
