To say Joshua Krause is excited about Art, Everywhere, the upcoming art exhibition/market featuring pieces from his High Tech High Media Arts students and those from other instructors, is a severe understatement.

"I am more excited for this student show than I am for my own exhibition," says Krause (whose opening was last Friday) via email.

"These kids bring a passion and joy to my life, and it is my commitment to share them with our community. If you even doubt the creative integrity of the youth, come and get blown away by authentic voices."

Those voices are being orchestrated by co-hosts Marilyn Brogan, Krause's fellow teacher at High Tech High Media Arts, and Enrique "Chikle" Lugo, a teacher at High Tech High Chula Vista, in a first-of-its-kind showing of works by both campuses in the same space.

"As we are all working artists," Krause goes on to say, "we bring an authentic point of view and authenticity to the art showing experience. We felt that collaborating would bring two school communities together, and bridge the culture gap....and be fun."

Krause says there will be jewelry, zines, posters, and mixed-media artworks.

"It will be a combo art show and craft marketplace. Sophomores are exhibiting exciting new jewelry they created out of old jewelry destined for the landfill. Seniors will be showing mixed media pieces based on the character of his/her neighborhood, as shown in a combination of macro-photography, installation, drawing, digital art, and laser cut technology. Each student also created a zine edition to document personal growth and expression."

Pieces more substantial in size and material cost will be sold on a "pay what you wish" basis, with a suggested donation to recoup materials cost.

All money will go toward providing tools and equipment for next semester's students and to help fund further projects.
