Encinitas man gets State prison for spitting on officer

Farzad John Daftari admitted felony resisting arrest in plea deal

Farzad John Daftari, 23, was sent to State prison a week ago, after he pleaded guilty to felony resisting arrest.

Encinitas Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault last summer, in July of 2012. At that time, Farzad John Daftari was accused of knocking a teenaged passerby off his skateboard, according to witnesses who testified at a preliminary hearing the following month.

Daftari was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery on the skateboarder, and felony attempting to dissuade a witness for allegedly cursing and threatening the teenaged victim, plus felony battery for spitting on a peace officer.

It was unclear from public records whether or not Farzad John Daftari has a contagious disease, although there was discussion on this topic during one of Daftari’s appearances in a San Diego Superior Courtroom.

Daftari pleaded guilty to one count of felony resisting arrest two months ago; he also admitted a prior felony conviction and agreed to a State prison sentence of 32 months, according to plea deal paperwork in his file.

One week ago, Daftari was sent to George Bailey detention facility, which is located in the southernmost part of San Diego County, about five miles from the Mexican border.
