The state of Baja California has rounded up 107 international criminals in its state since the beginning of the year, according to Daniel de la Rosa Anaya the secretary of public security. Rosa Anaya applauded the coordination between United States and Baja authorities in working together to capture 537 international fugitives in the state since 2002.

According to the statistics released, 2012 has yielded the highest number of arrests since the two nations began officially coordinating together. The San Diego Reader reported in July that 55 international fugitives had been captured at the mid-way point of the year.

While criminals have been arrested from numerous countries, the vast majority of foreigners are United States citizens. Those arrested have ranged from alleged murderers to drug dealers. United States fugitives are typically sent back immediately to the U.S. to face charges.
