Port Taking Suggestions for Improvement Projects

The Port of San Diego has extended the public proposal period on its Capital Improvement Program, which considers plans for various construction and improvement projects, through February 28. The extension is intended to give the public time to give input on the types of projects to develop on land managed by the Port.

The Port defines a capital improvement project as one that “adds to, or enhances, Port operating facilities and public amenities on Port tidelands.” Such projects could include public boat ramps, new parks, environmental mitigation, and most other improvements not classified as major maintenance.

Those interested in submitting a project for consideration during the next five-year program beginning July 1, 2013, should complete a project information form and submit it prior to the February deadline.

A Port meeting in the spring will discuss the merits of different proposals, with a workshop for further consideration planned for the coming fall.
