5 sexy dates under $25 - Mira Mesa style

As a stay at home boyfriend I do everything I can to save an extra buck. I'm stuck biting my lip for 2 months as I deflect the onslaught of verbal attacks from a younger girlfriend who's working 40 hours a week as I bum around - a wannabee surfer, cooking dinners, and doing the laundry. Regardless of the verbal assault I'm enjoying my 2 months between college graduation and joining Corporate America in Silicon Valley.

So how do you save money and impressive your significant other at the same time? I've compiled a list of the top 5 dates in Mira Mesa for under $25. I'm requesting that you comment at the bottom of this post and add your favorite cheap date as well.

  1. ChessMasters @ Starbucks - Wow your lover with you wise ways and take on the chessmasters at Starbucks in Mira Mesa. At 8250 Mira Mesa BLVD, you'll find one of the 100 Starbucks in town. But there's something special about this establishment, and it's got nothing to do with the $5 coffee. Plop down at the outside seating and you'll find between 1 to 10 chess matches going on at all times. Whether it's a casual game or speed chess where the hand moves faster than the mind, there's a game for everyone. With a mochacappalatte in hand, this destination will bring laughs to your love life. Impress your significant other by beating one of the masters or find love in humiliation when you're sent on your way three moves into a game...I may be speaking from experience.

  2. San Diego Ice Arena - For $24, a couple can skate, and quickly realize that there's never been a better time to hold hands. There's some comfort in pretending like you're helping the other person when in actuality each individual is on the verge of pulling the other down to a painful, cold, black and blue. Keep your eye on specials as this destination has DJ events, and much more. www.sdice.com

  3. Miramar Reservoir - This beautiful destination can be found just outside of Mira Mesa in neighboring Scripps Ranch on Scripps Lake Drive. Tell your lover that a picnic has been planned and bring a backpack dinner via bicycle to this lovely destination where you'll find a five mile paved road that surrounds the lake designed solely for joggers, walkers, bikers and lovers. There are nearly 50 picnic tables in the area, and one of the 18 BBQ stations is typically available, just don't overcook dinner. The water makes the area a cool summer destination.

  4. Bubble Tea Mira Mesa - As a bubble tea fanatic there's nothing better than sitting down with an iced tea, tapioca pearl fantasy and Mira Mesa has a number of excellent options. Tapioca Heaven, Bobalicious & Tea Station. Tea Station would have to be the best option and I wouldn't leave without trying the Green Apple Tea or the Coconut Milk Tea with Tapioca pearls. This succulent treat is both delicious and fun. When you've drained the tea but have a few tapioca pearls left, practice shooting them through the wide straw that comes with the drink. With a certain amount of practice you can launch them over 100 feet with deadly accuracy. Sexy.

  5. Mira Mesa Lanes - Playing with the big balls is a guaranteed way to fire things up for an exciting evening. At 8210 Mira Mesa BLVD you'll find a great deal every Tuesday night to get you and your loved one out of the house. For $20 you get 3 hours of bowling and a lane to your self, talk about intimacy. If that's not enough toss in $1.50 hot dogs and you might have to make this a weekly event.
