So usually on memorial day we all sit back and take the time to thank all of our veterans and current service members who are all sacrificing their lives so that we may have a free one. We also hit the beaches, or have family barbecues where we devour delicious foods that always seem to bring us all together. But afterward there is always that question: Who is going to clean the kitchen?. No one wants to volunteer, because depending on how big your family is or how many people you've invited over the kitchen looks like a bomb hit it after everyone is done eating. This memorial day is one i wont forget. After the last guess left my moms house, the kitchen looked as if there was a horrible earthquake in which all of the dishes fell out the cabinets and somehow became dirtied with food. I have a broad imagination, so i visioned that all of the plates and glasses and silverware with the barbecue stains on it were a whole town of people who had been in a bad massacre and were left out in the open for everyone to see. So as i realized that i would have the task of cleaning the kitchen alone, i imagined with every dish i cleaned that i was a mortician at the morgue wiping all the blood and guts off of those poor victims in the massacre. And when the last dish was washed, and all the counters and stove shining bright, i realized by day dreaming about the "massacre" i had actually finished my task fast and had fun doing it. And in the end it also made me realize the true meaning of this day, of why we thank the countless number of men and woman who give thier lives everyday so that people like me can sit and enjoy these holidays and daydream while washing the dishes. Thank you for your sacrifices on this memorial day 2010 and god bless America.
