FIGHT!!!

Carmel Mountain was a minor mess tonight. At the Arco station at the corner of Poway Rd. and Sabre Springs Parkway, most people are aware that cars line up in one direction to use the pumps. The system doesn't always work well. Regulars are respectful of it, and the occasional outsider can be forgiven if they aren't very observant.

I'm not sure whether the woman who cut in front of the cars tonight was an outsider or not, but an irate guy in a Jeep was convinced she was a consciencious interloper. He swerved around to block her car and was perfectly ready to ram her shiny black ride. He spewed out a string of "F" words while yelling at her that she had to move her car because of all the cars that had been waiting for 20 minutes. Another guy walked around to make note of her license plate. The woman refused to move.

I really would have liked to have done something to calm the situation, but I decided to leave. As I started my car, I thought about all the other things going on in the world as compared to the situation at the Arco Station. Did someone really need to defend the principle of the situation? Evidently. Was the woman rude? Yes. Was it worth the yelling? Maybe for the one doing it (gotta impress everyone with as many "F" words as possible, you know).

I get SO "F"(riggin') tired of hearing that word. It lacks intelligence, imagination, and usually isn't appropriate to any situation. It's an empty word that someone uses because they aren't smart enough to think of something really insulting to say.

As I left the parking, I was cut off by a another car that ran the red light at the top of the hill. Eventually, I made my way back up Sabre Springs Parkway. I heard the drone of a boom box in concert with a muffler. The headlights of the car in back of me were buried in my rear bumper. I was going the same speed as the cars in front of me, but the idiot behind me decided I was his immediate problem. He (and, yes, in this case it was a he) made an abrupt lane change to charge around me. He still had to settle in behind the car in the next lane because it wasn't going any faster than I was so he made no headway at all. Maybe it made him feel better on some level.

Five minutes after I got home, I heard sirens stop near the condo complex where I live. Wonder who was impatient or careless or angry?
