SDSU beat Colorado State 79-72, but they needed overtime to do it. The Aztecs took on the Rams at Viejas Arena on Saturday and barely escaped with a win thanks to an incredible overtime performance by Chase Tapley. Tapley saved the day, scoring 12 of his 19 points and recording a steal. Chase had to receive fluids through an IV before the game and was battling a high fever caused by the flu. The Aztecs had an 18 point halftime lead but was doomed by poor shooting second half.

Chase Tapley and Jamaal Franklin continue to dominate. While neither had a great night shooting, they combined for an impressive 42 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Tapley continues to knock down big shots for the Aztecs. In this game he did most of his scoring when it mattered the most; in overtime. Tapley and Franklin continue to cement the claims that they are the nations’ premier frontcourt. Franklin was rewarded for his play with a Mountain West co-player of the week award.

The Aztecs, as a whole, did not shoot the ball well, until overtime. They only shot 38.7% for the whole game, including a dismal second half shooting percentage of 21.4%. Thanks mostly to Tapley, SDSU shot 71.4% in overtime to close with a 7 point win. The Aztecs were 1-8 shooting three pointers in the second half. The Aztecs were also out rebounded 38-54 which is a rare occurrence.
