The last time I was talking about Mother Earth Brew Co. brewer Dan Love, I was giving him props for crafting his Big Mother Triple IPA. Churning out that bad mother (shut your mouth) was a big accomplishment, but it didn’t take him long to top himself by doing something even more deserving of commendation.
Love was recently approached by homebrewers Aaron Ortega, Bobby Parsons, and Levi Schaljo. The trio were looking to pay homage to their friends, who were among seven Marines that lost their lives when a pair of USMC helicopters collided near the California-Arizona Border last month.
They asked if Love would assist in brewing a special beer in their honor and he accepted. The result is Homage, a pale ale made using a combination of hops—Warrior, Williamette, Nugget, Fuggle—which combine to build a meaningful acronym, WWNF. We Will Never Forget. The beer will be available in tasters and pints and 50% of proceeds from all sales of Homage will be contributed to the Marines’ families.
To join Love (the most aptly named man for this job), his homebrewing compatriots, and the families of those fallen heroes, head to Mother Earth’s Vista tasting room today, Friday, March 30, between 4 and 8 p.m. Mother Earth Brew Co. is located at 2055 Thibodo Road.
