Police Toxicological Testing Performed (Frontera, 10/16/12)

TIJUANA, BC - More than a 1,800 toxicological tests have been made so far in 2012 to police personnel and civil servants working in the Secretariat of Public Security of the State.

Daniel de la Rosa Anaya, State Public Safety Secretary said that so far in 2012, the SSPE has made in total, 1,804 toxicological tests, as an evaluation of 258 Preventive State Police (PEP) agents.

As well, 1,158 elements of the State Police of Safety and Custody Prison (Pescp), as well as another 388 public servants in different state police units.

Toxicological tests are intended to verify members of State law enforcement institutions fulfill the requirements of established law for public security employees of the State of Baja California.

As well, the SSPE must have men that are fully capable and prepared, which will ensure the actions of public servants is in total and strict adherence to the law.

Rotary Club Donates Medical Equipment (Frontera, 10/16/12)

TIJUANA, BC - In order to make the timely detection of birth defects in newborns, members of the Rotary Club Tijuana donated 34,000 pesos worth ($2,656 US) of equipment for Pediatric Cardiology. The team received a Sonosite Micromaxx Ultrasound, a Cardio Touch-3000 Electrocardiograph and a Capnograph.

In the comprehensive care in pediatric patients with cardiovascular disease, Robles Barbosa, a pediatric cardiologist at the Hospital General in Tijuana, DRA, stressed in 2011 to date, successful heart surgery as well as catheterization has been provided to 27 children (newborn infants mainly).

Guadalupe Urrea Sánchez pointed out this donation will benefit 900 children annually in the Pediatric Cardiology Service Department, as well as 300 minors requiring inter-subspecialty consultation. She indicated that on average 1 of every 100 newborns may have a malformation of the heart, which can be detected in a timely manner through antenatal care or from birth.

The delivery of this donation was made by the President of the Rotary Club Tijuana, C.P. Roberto Rodríguez Aguirre, who expressed solidarity to needy patients.
