Baja & Border News Translations: Z Gas Company Lawsuit Filed; Puebla Government Seeks Audi Plant

Z Gas Company Lawsuit Filed (La Voz de la Frontera, 11/13/12, by Alejandro Dominguez)

Mexicali, BC – Yesterday, a first class action was made against Z Gas Company for their interruption of the domestic gas pipeline supply without notice, because individuals and businesses had substantial investments to make adjustments. Since October 17, Z Gas Company suspended indefinitely and without notice the supply of domestic gas by pipeline, affecting about 3,000 thousand residents and businesses located in the historic center, colonia Nueva, Industrial, Cuauhtémoc and Nacozari.

The Deputy of the Attorney Federal of the Consumer (Profeco) in Mexicali, Carlos Francisco Guillén Armenta, commented that yesterday, it received the first collective demand comprised of about 90 users against the Z Gas Company. However, other persons wishing to add to the complaint against the company still can go to the offices of Profeco in Mexicali, since they are forming a second package of protesters seeking company compensation for damages, as well as expenses that have been incurred by its users.

"We are missing about 170 interested others, but not all have complied with the requirement to sign the Charter’s power, so we are waiting for them. I can do that here, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the sub-delegation’s Profeco", mentioned the federal official. The complaint will be given local follow-up by making summons to Z Gas and carrying-out the necessary hearings to expose its arguments and finally reach agreements with users so they can recover their investments and make necessary adjustments.

Guillén Armenta invited those affected to come to Profeco before the case has been heard and thereby set a precedent so there can be no recurrence of such situations. http://www.oem.com.mx/lavozdelafrontera/notas/n2769606.htm

Puebla Government Seeks Audi Plant (La Voz de la Frontera, 11/13/12)

Ingolstadt, Puebla - Governor Rafael Moreno Valle considered if Puebla it was the right decision for Audi to install its new plant in San José Chiapa by exhibiting some of the elements which support and give viability to the determination of the automotive consortium.

The executive endorsed the commitment of his administration to work with the company for successful installation and future development. "With Mr. Rupert Stadler and Audi we will be looking for a strategy of attracting suppliers", highlighted Moreno Valley. Obviously, he commented, the company is interested in its suppliers being close to its new plant and the Puebla Government, wants to reach out to new businesses settling in the State.

In a press conference with the directors of Audi, Moreno Valley pointed out, "When it comes to any Government, particularly in a less developed country, the company's concern is whether the Government can comply with everything needed. And I can assure you in the case of the Government of Puebla that we will meet your needs."

He added, "We are most interested in the delivery of the first car. I am even more interested in 2016, when the domestic gross product of Puebla is posted, the production of 150,000 Audi Q5’s, and why pressure, in this case, will really be more from the Government to the company to comply with the times".

The Audi quality, he referred to, must be the same as if it occurred in Germany, Hungary, China or Mexico. And that requires us to train our staff, he said. Moreno Valley added that the Government of Puebla and Audi share a common vision as part of a strategy, a of long term plan, which has concrete and measurable actions in the short and the medium terms. This, he noted, has been a very complex process; a very transcendental decision for Audi’s future.

In the past six years, he said, we went from being the 13th largest producer of vehicles in the world, to the eighth. He said 20 percent of the country's automotive production is generated in Puebla. He stressed that another factor that strengthens Puebla, is his relationship with Germany. There are 29 companies from that country currently operating in Puebla. http://www.oem.com.mx/lavozdelafrontera/notas/n2769911.htm
