Baja & Border News Translations: Criminal "Cockroach Effect"; Children Fighting Cancer have Christmas Posada

Criminal "Cockroach Effect" (El Sol de Tijuana, 12/21/12 by Adam Mondragon)

Tijuana, BC - The Secretary of Public Security of the State, Daniel de la Rosa Anaya, revealed there will be a shield in the region in order to avoid a "cockroach effect" as a result of a new security strategy that the Federal Government will implement. The strategy will be outlined at a meeting held by the State Governor, Jose Guadalupe Osuna Millan, with authorities of the States of Sonora, Sinaloa and Baja California Sur.

In an interview, the head of SSPE, argued that after the meeting of the National Security Council last Monday, the need to regionalize the country's security was established. In this regard, Daniel de la Rosa, said a system of cooperation between those entities will integrate every region whose goal it is to coordinate work, in addition to exchanging information.

The objective of the meeting planned for authorities in the Northwest part of the country, is expected to happen in January, to surely strengthen security, he stressed. The Secretary of Public Security of the State spoke of the creation of a gendarmerie, not replacing the work of the federal police, but to work on specific actions in the Northern and southern regions of the country.

According to the information provided by the federal Government, the National Gendarmerie will be comprised of approximately 10-15,000 policemen operating at specific points of the country. He said problems of insecurity in Baja California or the northern region of the country, are not equal to those in the South of the country, so the strategy will be diversified.

Daniel de la Rosa emphasized that the federal Government will maintain confident control of systems and federal subsidies, as they were working with the previous administration. http://www.oem.com.mx/elsoldetijuana/notas/n2815373.htm

Children Fighting Cancer have Christmas Posada (El Sol de Tijuana, 12/21/12 by Daniel Angel)

Tijuana, BC - On Thursday, a very special Christmas Posada was held for children receiving cancer treatment at the General Hospital in Tijuana. The event was made known through a press release that reported it was organized by the Board of Trustees Pro-Hospital Tijuana Civil and the staff of the Ministry of Health (SSA).

Besides enjoying the food and drink accompanied by their parents, the children received a visit from Santa Claus who delivered toys to the 56 children who wrote him little notes. "The director of the General Hospital of Tijuana, Jose Manuel Robles Barbosa, stated that this type of activity increases the quality of life, not just for the child in treatment, but the parents and siblings who live with this disease every day," they added.

Currently, they reported there are 65 children who are battling the disease in the General Hospital of the city, and 95 already managed to recover. Leukemia, they stress, is the most common type of cancer among children receiving treatment.

"It should be noted the Ministry of Health in the entity has two certified units providing medical treatment for childhood cancer (UNEME for special medical oncology in Mexicali and Tijuana General Hospital), which provide free treatment through the Popular Insurance", emphasized official information.

Finally, they made a call to always check the state of health of children and go to the health center if there is is any bruising, stains on the skin, decaying, headaches or joint pain, pallor, or persistent fevers. http://www.oem.com.mx/elsoldetijuana/notas/n2815453.htm
