Crazy Costumes -- Target Targeted, Illegal Aliens Offended

Cheech Marin’s song “Born in East L.A.”, the parody of Springsteen’s hit, was in my head all weekend.

It stemmed from seeing the story about the Target store in L.A. that had illegal alien costumes. Those had a mask of a space alien (you know the look…bald green head, big eyes), but the aliens were in an orange jumpsuit and had a green card. The words “illegal alien” were written on the shirt.

I don’t think there would’ve been anything so offensive about it, although, one of the aliens came with a big Cheech Marin style mustache.

After complaints, Target pulled the costumes. Apparently they were upsetting to illegal aliens. And of course, that’s the last thing we’d want to do in this country – offend people that aren’t legally here.

A more morbid Halloween story was going on in L.A. It involved residents of an apartment complex in Marina del Rey that saw a dead body slumped on a balcony. It was the body of Mostafa Mahmoud Zayed, a 75-year-old who shot himself in the head.

Days and days went by, without anyone calling the police at the site of Zayed on his balcony in a bloody mess. The neighbors said they assumed it was a dummy, set up as a Halloween display.

I smell a “Weekend at Bernies -- Part III.”

There is nothing quite so much fun as the act of being fooled

This reminds me of a funny cartoon based on a comedy routine of a filipino comedian named Rex Navarette. The cartoon is called "Maritess VS The Superfriends." It is the story of a filipina who came to the US to be the housekeeper for the Superfriends (yes, those same ones from the old 70's Saturday morning show).

At one point, she comments that her visa had expired and she was an illegal alien. She said, it wasn't fair because Superman was from Krypton, he is an alien. She was from Earth.

You should google it...hysterical!

Went to Target today to buy that costume, they don't have it anymore:(. I thought the whole idea of it was hilarious! I will try to find it online, or I will just make myself one...

The weird thing about it is...who said the illegal alien was Mexican? It was an alien head! In an orange jumpsuit.

Target had issued a statement that it was supposed to only be available online. But I think they yanked it from there as well.

My girlfriend and I are going as Jon and Kate Gossling. I wonder if they'll still be in the news in a few weeks.

But, it's a shame we already ordered the Kate wig. Because, the balloon boy would've been fun to do.

Do you think the costumes would still be on Target shelves

if they said, "Migrant Workers"?

Only if, instead of the green card they came with a box of tomatoes.
