48 Hour Film Project Screenings Begin Tonight at UltraStar Poway

Armed with little more than three required elements (a TV newsperson named Gary or Gretta Greenberg, a cell phone, and the line "Where are we going?") and a two-day shooting schedule, the finished products in this year's 48 Hour Film Project are ready to be unveiled to a paying public.

In 2011, nearly 60,000 filmmakers in 96 cities on 6 continents submitted 4,000 films. This year they plan to go even bigger, with filmmakers from across the globe competing to write, shoot, edit, and score a short film in just 48 hours.

The screenings commence tonight at UltraStar Poway. Tickets are $12. This year, the folks at 48HFP were gracious (crazy?) enough to ask this reporter to judge the winning entries. The awards will be handed out on July 8 at 8 p.m. at 8:30pm at The Brigantine, 13445 Poway Road preceded at 5 p.m. by a "Best Of" screening at UltraStar Poway. Click for more information.
