Had my first walk over Harbor Drive on the new Harbor Pedestrian Bridge. Her suspender cables showed stary eyed in the sun light. Her radial cables were as smooth as silk. Her steps were as fine as milled concrete with pads. At the top of the steps her curves flowed across the drive like a young boy looking at his date walking along with a virgin. You have to be an engineer to understand that part. If you want to avoid the steps because you are to old she will take you up in her elevators with her Austria made glass sides. The under side is an engineering art piece too. The design was done by Lin International, founded by Tung-Yen Lin in San Francisco. Mr. Tung-Yen Lin was born in Fuzhou, China and recieved his bachelor's degree from Southwest Jiaoting University and his masters degree from the University of Califonia Berkely in 1933. He was professor of civil engineering at Berkely. This was a one of a kind experience looking at the city, the stadium, the Convention Center and the Coronado bridge going over the bay. The only thing I missed was that I wish I could have walked across it with Judy this first time to feel the experience as I will be walking it almost every day as I do my exercise on the Embarcadero Marina Park most every day.
