End of the Trail
Jerry, your books and columns have taken me to many wonderful places and I've spend many peaceful and serene hours on the trails that you've written about -- I can't thank you enough for that. On reading this column, I'm reminded of a quote from John Muir about Glacier National Park, it applies to hiking and being outdoors as well; "...The time will not be taken from the sum of your life. Instead of shortening, it will indefinitely lengthen it and will make you truly immortal." You're a San Diego treasure, the equal of any sports hero or civic leader. I hope that you are able to be out on the trail again someday soon.— July 18, 2011 7:37 a.m.
