Surviving the Swarm in Anza-Borrego
Hi We have experienced the same thing many times. The bees are attracted to water sources from your camp. In the past we have set up a small bowl of water away from the camp to keep them at a distance. Bob [http://www.anzaborrego.net][1] [1]: http://www.anzaborrego.net— February 28, 2013 2:18 p.m.
Wind Project’s Heavy Equipment Damages Desert
Why are they allowed to do this when the BLM for years has said it is a sensitive area? Guess if you have enough $$ you can do whatever you want. :( Bob http://www.anzaborrego.net http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2012/aug/3…— August 30, 2012 6:27 a.m.
End of the Trail
Jerry, You have inspired many of our Anza Borrego hikes. A dog-eared copy of Afoot and AField has been in my Land Cruiser for years and another one is a fixture on my nightstand. I am extremely grateful for your insights and inspiration and wish I had met you on the trail. Bob B http://www.anzaborrego.net/— July 6, 2011 5:06 p.m.
Uninvited Guests Line the Road to Powerlink Ground-Breaking
Thanks for posting this Craig, I was at the protest and was happy there was such a good turnout of those against the Sunrise Powerlink. SDG&E is on the brink of forever changing the San Diego back-country and here they are dressed in suits patting each other on the back for a job well done. What they have done is a complete "Green Wash" of this entire project. There is nothing green about cutting through untouched wilderness for an antiquated powerline that is unnecessary. To use the title of your article, I would say that the Governor, SDG&E, and the Sunrise Powerlink supporters attending the event were the "uninvited guests" to our pristine backcountry, Regards, Bob B. Hidden Pictographs of Indian Valley
I would be very surprised if anyone could find it by that story. Even if you know the area, which few people do. It is very hard to locate. It is mentioned in a few guide books also, but still there are no directions.— November 30, 2010 9:22 a.m.
Goat Canyon Trestle Trek
Never saw security whole tim e we were there. Guess we were lucky. I have some pictures of the trip at http://www.anzaborrego.net/travel/AnzaBorrego/pho… If the link doesn't work go to http://www.anzaborrego.net/ and search Goat Canyon Trestle Bob— June 2, 2010 3:39 p.m.
Goat Canyon Trestle Trek
Javajoe25 Are you talking about the route from Mortero palms where you go up and over the mountian and then drop down into Goat Canyon? I have done that one a few times and you are right the last 500 feet is pretty sketchy. You can make it to the bottom if you go slow and watch your footing. Bob— May 31, 2010 2:47 p.m.
Desert Treasure
Thanks Niki, Hope to see you out in Anza-Borrego sometime :-). Bob— April 16, 2010 1:56 p.m.
For Obama Sunrise a “poster child” for renewable-energy strategy
The article hits the nail on the head. Do we want big corporate control over energy resources or do we truly want to achieve energy independence? Sunrise Powerlink keeps us keeps us tethered to Sempra/SDG&E. Why do we need to destroy our backcountry under the guise of renewable energy? We want local solutions that don't require a massive 123 mile transmission line. Bob B. Leucadia http://www.anzaborrego.net/Travel/AnzaBorrego/cat…— May 27, 2009 1 p.m.
Sunrise Powerlink — a chess game for the big guys
One of the better articles I have read on all the shortcomings of SDG&E's Sunrise PowerLink. I think we have to ask ourselves do we want to line SDG&E's pockets with profits from an archaic technology or do we truly want a smarter energy solution ? Anza Borrego Desert State Park and the San Diego back country are precious resources that are unlike any in the world. We need to defeat this proposal and protect these areas.
