Game of the Week: No. 1 Oceanside at No. 2 La Costa Canyon
I was in attendance at the game last night. Outstanding coverage! Perfect night for football even though the game did not live up to the hype. What a dominating performance in all phases of the game by Oceanside! If Oceanside hits on all cylinders, they appear to be unstoppable. Division II will undoubtedly be the most competitive in the playoffs, unless Oceanside is able to duplicate last night's performance. Looking down the road, with one loss, what are the chances that a San Diego section team will be invited to participate in the state bowl games from Div I or II.? Can you explain the new format for the San Diego section playoffs?— October 27, 2012 8:32 a.m.
Game of the Week: No. 1 Helix at No. 8 Eastlake
Glad to see that you are back for another year. Enjoyed the previews of the top area teams. This game summary or score was not available in the local north county newspaper. Looks like Helix is picking up right where they left off. I know it is early, but are there any teams beside Oceanside that will test them this year? Looking forward to another great year and following high school football via the SD Reader.— September 1, 2012 7:30 a.m.
Top Plays of the Season
In my opinion, the best and most comprehensive high school football coverage in San Diego. Thanks for bringing us another great year.— December 20, 2011 9:32 p.m.
Game of the Week: #10 Poway at #6 La Costa Canyon
Great article! Poway had more big plays on both sides of the ball. The Titans vertical game and timely defensive pressure seemed to be too much for LCC. Even though it is only week 2, this performance has to place Poway in the top teams in the area. Outstanding quality on your video coverage.— September 10, 2011 7:03 p.m.
Grossmont upends No. 10 Helix in defensive struggle
Nice recap and outstanding photo. Great to see parity at the top of this league and the comment that defense wins championships has proven to be true, time and time again, no matter what the sport or level of the participants. How do you see the upper echelon of this league stacking up against their North County counterparts?— February 12, 2011 7:29 a.m.
Game of the Week: Oceanside at Helix
An outstanding game between 2 tradition-rich and extremely well coached programs. Most years this game would have been played as the championship at the "Q". Oceanside will be riding a huge wave of emotion when they face Mission Hills for the second time on Monday. Hope they don't overlook the fact, even though they soundly beat Mission Hills earlier in the year, that Mission Hills beat the Div I favorite, Vista, in capturing the regular season league title. Thanks for the outstanding coverage from this game and throughout the year.— December 4, 2010 7:41 a.m.
Bracket Breakdown: Division I
I am in total agreement with Carlsbad's defensive coordinator. Until last year's champion Eastlake, this has been a division dominated by North County teams. I would much rather see teams play that haven't already played once this year.— November 14, 2010 7:50 a.m.
Bracket Breakdown: Division II
This is the most comprehensive breakdown of the brackets that I have come across. Thank you. I cannot remember in the recent past where there is not a single clear cut favorite to win in Divisions I-V. Barring any early upsets of significance, the potential semi-final pairings will be worth watching. Which of the San Diego-section CIF teams have a realistic chance of making the state playoffs, if they run this playoff table?— November 14, 2010 7:45 a.m.
Game of the Week: Vista at Mission Hills
Epic win for Mission Hills. What a great game. Profs to the entire coaching staff for team preparation and to the players for executing the game plan and keeping their composure when trailing by 2 scores. Excited to see the parity in the league and looking forward to the remainder of the season and the CIF playoffs.— October 30, 2010 7:10 a.m.
Del Norte makes history with first varsity win
Nice coverage on a team/program that is not in the media spotlight, yet. Sounds as if the program has laid a foundation for future success.— September 25, 2010 7:51 a.m.
