I recommend staying out of the stock market and stocks, bonds, currencies, derivatives, and the like, except maybe in an IRA or 401K that guarantees it will never go down, which I have in my IRA. That way you will never loose money in that area. As for just investing in stocks, bonds, currencies, derivatives, and the like don't do it. Instead, invest in yourself in your own business. If you make double digit incomes from investing in the markets, that's not enough for me. I invest in my own business and make 100s and 1,000s of percent on my investments. Yes I can prove it, and I do it all the time. I am not talking about big investments here, but small ones, which can be the down side depending on how you look at it. If you are living in a $1 million + home then you need more money than I make, but if you live within your means and don't need more rooms in a home than you can ever use then invest in yourself and your own business, built it and stay out of the markets.— October 12, 2011 9:35 a.m.
No Summer Break
Cyrus is a 1.5 hr movie that has a lot of impromptu dialog in it. Some off the cuff blunt stuff by John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei. We got to see Marisa at a showing with a Q&A after the show as she revealed what went on during the making of the $1.5 million production. The meaning of this performance is rather odd, basically a 21 yr old spoiled brat, which in reality didn't have much meaning nor sent you any kind of revealing message. Plot was rather haphazard. Sure there were laughs and even applause after the showing, but for my buck I give it a dog or 1/2 star. Take us back to the Marisa Tomei of "My Cousin Vinnie" days.— July 2, 2010 2:35 a.m.

Saw 2012 on Thursday, a preview and I rate it as the Best Movie of the Year without question. Best disaster movie ever. Best Picture Oscar Material, Best Actor John Cusack, Best Screen Play, and Best Supporting Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor. Possible sweep of Oscars. A Must See! They did everything right. Discrepancies Aside
Just a short comment on the upcoming movie "Whatever Works"... The unexpected arrives after going into the movie (pre-screening) pretty much blind as to what the movie was all about and not really knowing that much about Larry David. This movie written & directed by Woody Allen, who is not in the movie, knocked all our socks off. All I can say is, Don't miss this one folks.— June 25, 2009 12:03 a.m.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not only Action Packed but new and will not bore you in the slightest. I have always loved the X-Men movies, except X-Men: The Last Stand, which I totally hated. I couldn't bear to see the end of my favorites; Jean, Charles Xavier, and Cyclops. Now with the new Wolverine movie a whole new era opens up with potential for many new and exciting movies. I hope it comes to pass. I was enthralled with Wolverine (Logan), moving thru his adventures with his opposing brother Victor. The excitement never ends and I thought Stryker added that special sinister touch that adds to that excitement. All bases are covered and all emotions. I can't wait for the next episode of the invincible Wolverine as he moves thru his adventures.— May 15, 2009 1:56 a.m.
Star Trek
The Future not only "Begins" with the New Star Trek movie but I predict it's the start of another long run. My first take was "they did their homework". That is so important in the making of any movie. If you do your homework you will get an "A" or 5 Stars, ditto. The young Kirk played by Chris Pine was quite incredible, not to mention all the other cast members all starting out at a young age, what a movie. The only slightly older actor Karl Urban played the part of Leonard "Bones" McCoy, who was older in the original TV series, thus reflected in this new movie. Karl is from Doom and Lord of the Rings fame. We are almost talking about kids, where Chekov is 17, played by Anton Yelchin who is actually 20, so that's pretty close, I've always loved Anton in his entire young career and he is in fact an immigrant from Russia. Then the perfectly chosen Spock who is played by Zachary Quinto (where did they find this guy?) wow!, the young Spock couldn't have been better. At 32 he looks remarkably young; this is a good thing for this part. Sulu is also well casted and played by John Cho from Harold & Kumar fame among other movies. I really liked Bruce Greenwood’s roll as Captain Christopher Pike, very well placed roll. I can’t leave out Captain Robau of the Enterprise played by Faran Tahir, San Diego’s own. Then there’s Uhura played by Zoe Seldana who was quite romantic with Spock that might have shocked some hardcore Trekies. Scotty’s role is played by Simon Pegg the hot headed British actor and does the perfect job of Scotty. If you are the slightest Star Trek fan you won’t be disappointed. JJ Abrams directed this one which should bring him up the ladder in directing. I almost forgot you will love Leonard Nimoy playing the future Spock. This movie just makes you happy that’s all I can say about it. I’ve seen it twice now and will worth it.— May 8, 2009 2:49 p.m.
17 Again
17 Again with Zac Efron at first sight I thought was going to be a goofy teen movie, but as it turned out at the pre screening I attended, I really liked the movie and I think it will do quite well at the box office. I thought Zac Efron did a great job and he is becoming a 'real' actor. I think he has a great future in acting. Of course looks don't have anything to do with it, yea right. Leslie Mann who played the wife acted like a doofus most of the time, but overall she actually did a pretty good job. Matthew Perry's role really didn't amount to much except at the beginning to give an overview of what was going on in his rather horrible life, up until the time of the change over to 17 again. Michelle Trachtenberg played the daughter who was into more than just music as you will see. Thomas Lennon who plays the best friend actually was a kick and really takes it to the limit with some of the things he does. Gotta see this one guys. 3 Stars.— April 16, 2009 11:38 a.m.
Gomorrah
Gomorrah was not what was expected and many in the audience were looking for a more interesting movie. The house at the Ken was quite full, this opening weekend, as I go there once in a while to catch a movie that catches my eye. However, save your money on this one folks, a big disapointment, unless you speak Italian, even then I was bored almost to tears. At what seemed to be 2 1/2 hours long, it got tough just watching the same boring scenes. You've seen it before, thugs in control of an area filled with drugs and factions fighting and killing anyone who gets in their way. Who cares. I even bought a popcorn on this one which didn't help. No stars on this one or 5 dogs (take your pick)— March 22, 2009 5:52 a.m.
Duplicity
Duplicity staring Julia Roberts and Clive Owen is kind of a story about a love between two secret agents. Blind love you might say since they both, as expert as they both appear, totally overlooked the fact that they were lead on by their superiors in kind of a trap that lead absolutely nowhere. Love at first sight perhaps, as reshearsed as it was, which you will see when you watch this movie. Now who likes movies that take you to a certain point then go back in time to fill you in on the background of what is currently happening? I know I hate that. But there was so much of that in this movie, I actually got caught up in all of it. I give this quite interesting movie two stars and kind of liked it. Rockin' Baja Lobster — Old Town
Rockin' Baja Lobster in Old Town is a very cool place to go. I personally would suggest summertime. But anytime can be good. Tropical like atmosphere with a patio that is partially open, yes the little birds fly in and want food. Now about the food, Mexican and Seafood, but I would suggest one of the Buckets. My personal best is the Big Baja Bucket with carne asada and grilled chicken and Baja shirmp and slipper lobster tails. Loaded with goodies and can feed three easily but intended for two people. Or try the Beach Bucket with snow crab and jumbo shimp, you can't beat jumbo shimp. Delicious and great service. A great party place also with a very lively bar close by. We have had a number of parties there and always had wonderful food and service. Give it a try. Valet parking is usually available with a pretty big parking lot.— February 14, 2009 8 p.m.
