Look! Up in the Sky!
Well I actually paid to go see this movie, expecting a Will Smith Hit. Sorry to say, I was not impressed. Kind of stupid storyline and the twist in the plot of the movie was totally lame. I won't reveal it, but give me a break. I was expecting something like a Superman sequel and what I got was a Superman sequal that ran out of gas. Save your hard earned money and your time.— August 21, 2008 8:21 a.m.
Chicken Pie Shop of San Diego
As some of you seasoned San Diegan's know the Chicken Pie Shop has a history. I remember it back in the 50s when I was a kid in Hillcrest. I used to go there back in the wild 70s and it was wonderful, atmosphere, wonderful food and of course the best thing is that they create there own chicken pies that remain great to this day. Not what it used to be when back in Hillcrest. The current location reminds me of a mess hall in the Army or Navy, same type of atmosphere. The canned veggies suck frankly. The service is friendly and they keep on top of things. We still go there on occasion. Low cost pricing. Try their chicken pie and I think you will give it a thumbs up.— August 21, 2008 8:13 a.m.
The Boathouse
I found the Boathouse a great place on the bay to have dinner, I thought the food was quite good, nice atmosphere and good service. Pricing is not that bad either. More than moderate pricing however, but get the coupon and you have a deal. Give it a try, I think you will be pleased.— August 21, 2008 8:04 a.m.
Anthony's Fish Grotto
High priced, food not that great, caters to the very upper class, you can tell by their pricing. I prefer to stay away from the place. I have been there a few times, I was not that impressed.— August 21, 2008 7:51 a.m.
Baja Betty's
If you want the best in Mexican food and the best service Baja Betty's is the place for you. I would suggest lunch, since dinner can be a long wait and usually too crowded. So, here's the scenario, their lunch menu is very reasonable and the dishes are giant. Food is great. Try the Taco Salad with chicken or beef. Ummm. Super friendly service and they stay on top of your needs. Located on University in Hillcrest. Oh, don't forget the sidewalk seating for lunch good for watching all the people walking by.— August 21, 2008 7:47 a.m.
None
Uno Chicago or Uno Pizza as I call it, in Fashion Valley, is kind of in the center of the mall on the first level. Very in spot with mostly upper class clientile. The food is excellent. It is usually very crowded and the wait time is usually unacceptable, and you have to stand up, unless you can find a spot at the bar. Even though the atmosphere is poppin', the size is too small to accomodate all the customers. Large selection of drinks with many, many beers to select from. Once seated, again the wait time is not acceptable.— August 21, 2008 7:35 a.m.
