Pineapple Express
Typical doper movie to promote smoking dope. Aimed towards younger crowd just to make money, and attract dopers in support of their habit. Stupid! even if I did see Seth Rogen in person, I don't care.— September 14, 2008 11:17 a.m.
Burn after Reading
Burn After Reading with all the stars, Clooney, Pitt, Malkovich, Swinton, Jenkins, & Marvel made a lot of us in the filled theater crack up quite a bit. There were mixed reviews on this one. This is your typical nut case movie, where most all the actors act like total space cadets and then some. I really think most of us didn't get it. Stupid, you be the judge, if you care to spend the money watching Brad Pitt act like a total doofus and look the part too, then be my guest.— September 14, 2008 11:02 a.m.
The House Bunny
Fun movie and good too. You will be suprised.— September 14, 2008 10:50 a.m.
Business as Usual
If you loved the Beatles you will love "Across the Universe" a most delightful and throughly entertaining movie of wonder songs, all by the Beatles, sung by the cast: Evan Rachel Wood, Martin Luther, Dana Fuchs, Jim Sturgess, and T.V. Carpio. Get the DVD, great for the whole family.— September 14, 2008 10:47 a.m.
Critical Time
Lions for Lambs is one of the most self promotional movies out there. The brain child of Robert Redford and Matthew Michael Carnahan is their own little statement on today's events in their opinion. By the end of this movie which ended abruptly we all just had our mouths open and said "What?" Most everyone didn't have a clue.— September 14, 2008 10:43 a.m.
Phil's BBQ
Phil's BBQ in Point Loma (Sports Arena area) is the best, if you like BBQ Chicken, whole or half or BBQ Ribs, Corn on the Cob, beans or cole slaw, and drink, you got it here, but this is the BEST by FAR of any around the atmosphere pops, the line can get long coming in, but they know what they are doing and it will move fast, and you get your food fast. Once seated and eating, the waitress will drop by your table just to make sure all is going well and stand there and chat with you, make jokes or whatever. Packed with fun people, free refills on drinks self serve, and by the way use the water trouph to wash up in the middle of your meal and/or after. I know I get it all over my face and hands so I need to go there at least two times. I know you will love this place.— September 7, 2008 10:25 a.m.
D.Z. Akin's
If you are a Jewish friend then I know you will love this place. Lots of celebrities have been there and still go there. Of course New Yorkers love it too. Frankly it's just not for me, but everyone I know wants to go there and they all love it. Too pricy for me too, but hey I am only one person. The only time I go there is because a friend wants to go really bad and so I give in. Usually always crowded but usually no wait. Service is good. I just don't care for the food, but if you like the New York style Jewish deli with tons of sandwiches and lots of other stuff then drop by, who knows you might see Ted Lightner there.— August 21, 2008 8:51 a.m.
Denny's
This location for Denny's is probably one of the best in San Diego. I know some Denny's that are cramped, or just arranged wrong, or have been in the same location for so long, they no longer are what they used to be. Food is always good, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Give it a try. Pricing is moderate overall. Service is always good.— August 21, 2008 8:42 a.m.
1887 on the Bay
The Boathouse in Coronado is your upper class restaurant. If you want to rub elbows with the wealthy then drop by for a bite to eat. Of course you will pay thru the nose, but what the heck? The food is great and lots of it. Service is wonderful with super friendly waiters. We went there on my last birthday with a big gang, I thought it was over kill for me, but I think it was worth it. Lots of people there who look like "Somebody" if you know what I mean. The Boathouse has been there for a long time.— August 21, 2008 8:39 a.m.
Great Maple
Don't be fooled by the so called low to moderate pricing. We went there with a coupon and if it wasn't for the owner, we would have had to pay a lot more than we did, so he did us a favor. I have only been to the location on Washington. On the bright side, I love lunch there on the patio. Great atmosphere, and for a nice summertime lunch that is not only good, but quite nice service. Try to bring a coupon if you can find one. Sometimes in the rag stands right in front you will find a coupon. Now that I see how popular their breakfasts are, I will have to try that too sometime.— August 21, 2008 8:30 a.m.
