I went for this full sleeve tattoo to ultimately even out the four elements that I have reflected between my left and right arms. Additionally, my goddaughter is part Hawaiian and on the roles, her name is Oona, so the lower half of this sleeve is for her heritage. The inner side is a picture of a hula dancer and her name sake. On the back side of the sleeve is a tiki of Ku, 1 of the four great Hawaiian gods. The upper half features a full moon, and a phoenix rising out of the fire from the volcano below. This represents rebirth/transformation. On the inside, the star alignment is for Scorpio which is my goddaughters sign.
Bill Kieffer the former owner of Eden Tattoo finished this full sleeve project here in San Diego back in 2009. I would come down from San Francisco every 3 to 6 months to have another stage of it done. It took 30+ hours.
I currently live here in San Diego, just turned 40, and work as a contract bookkeeper.
