The scandal of cell phones at classical music concerts
Garrett Harris -- as a stage actor, another performance area that bans cell phones, I'll let you know that cell phone users are distracting to the actors, distracting to the audience, and show a complete disrespect for everyone else in attendance because it's not about the performance, it's about the cell phone user being selfish. Furthermore, patrons pay for an exclusive space, where they can enjoy something without a screen. Last and perhaps most important, unauthorized recordings are a form of music piracy and could potentially deprive the artist of royalties for their work, as the cell phone user will be giving away their work free of charge. The problem is cell phone users who need to get over themselves. Your phone is not your life. Grow up.— October 3, 2019 1:05 p.m.
Ocean Beach locals escort bully out of town
This is happening all over San Diego. Ocean Beach is still part of San Diego, far as I've heard. I feel bad for them, but I also hope they feel bad for the rest of us. They just escorted a bum to another part of San Diego. Thanks a lot, guys. Stop navel-gazing at your imaginary "unique vibe" and enjoy the new Target. In the meantime, stop pretending you're special and deserve better treatment than any other part of town.— October 3, 2019 12:36 p.m.
Captain Marvel: I am woman
Comic movies are for special needs children. Picking a side between Marvel and DC makes you a special needs child. In the old days, we'd segregate you guys away from the general student population so that your lower intelligence wouldn't negatively affect and hold back the rest of the class, and we'd even give you your own short buses so that your violent outbursts -- often over things such as which comic book hero was tougher -- wouldn't endanger children who actually have a chance at a productive future. Nowadays, you retards run the earth. No, mbenjell10, you can shut your immature, idiotic face and go back to the short bus, and let Marks and Lickona do their jobs.— April 4, 2019 4:18 p.m.
North Park locals patrol the neighborhood
She brags about how her family owns half the neighborhood, but won't give her last name? Still, I feel for them.— March 21, 2019 3:02 a.m.
East Village's birdman loses Sydney, run over by trolley
I'm not saying he should have been beaten, but I don't think we've got the whole story here. He says he was beaten up in 1989. Then he says he was beaten up by guard at Island Village, which is evicting him (ever see the people there? You have to be a real piece of work to get evicted). Then he gets beaten up again while trying to take action about being beaten. This guy's a magnet for beatings, I reckon, and used his birds as a shield -- didn't work this time.— February 17, 2019 10:44 p.m.
Don Bauder and the Reader
Right there in the lede, Bauder, you admitted what I've been calling you out on for years -- that you were acting as a personal propaganda spokesman for Mike Aguirre (a "rabble-rouser" who failed as city attorney and received barely 5 percent of the vote when he ran for mayor). You were in bed with him, and thus you were not a credible reporter. You were and are a conspiracy theorist, and you still have not apologized for insulting Filner's victims and framing the whole situation as a "lynching." There's still time for you to apologize so long as the Reader is still giving you a platform despite your "retirement" (hint: don't be Sugar Ray Leonard -- stay retired). Consider apologizing. Otherwise, it's a good thing you're gone. In the age of Trump, we don't need any more sexist conspiracy theorists.— February 17, 2019 10:26 p.m.
Farewell to a professional love
Still think Filner was lynched? Your horrendous, insulting coverage of that disgusting man and the stain he brought to our city will forever be part of your legacy.— February 2, 2019 9:26 a.m.
OBecians reclaim pieces of pier broken by storm
"(T)he character of OB" is a bunch of smelly junkies playing the same three songs on guitars that aren't in tune, and the women that love them for their access to dope.— January 24, 2019 10:35 a.m.
Mike Schaefer, 80, running for office again
He sounds like Mike Aguirre.— November 17, 2018 3:56 a.m.
Shared bikes and scooters used for crimes
There's a gaggle of homeless guys who work chop shops. I see them and recognize their faces. They move around the East Village area mostly. They've never stopped doing this, and were the only homeless who remained in one corner of the area after Hep A chased everyone else out. The good news in all this is that they're now stealing bikes from some pretentious start-ups with cutesy lingo, as opposed to cutting private bike locks or stealing them from people's homes and yards.— July 13, 2018 11:06 a.m.
