Reader writer tests alternative medicine on self
Dear San Diego Reader, Thank you for writing about the many alternative practices that are available in San Diego County. I appreciated it because I am a Naturopathic Doctor in private practice at Body Craft (Kearney Mesa). Imagine my eyes bulging in elated surprise when I saw the section on the Equiscope in your article 'What's the Alternatives'. The elation came from the fact that finally the Equiscope made its debut in community news, although many of its predecessors, i.e. the Acuscope, have been around since the 1970s. And I am also very happy because as an Equiscope practitioner it is important that the people know that there are highly specialized medical devices that can successfully treat many acute and intractable chronic conditions, especially pain. Equally important is the fact that there is evidence in the scientific literature that supports the use of devices that stimulate specific areas of the body which have positive health effects (e.g. stimulation of the vagus nerve for sympathetic nervous system regulation). However, the author of the article Chris Ahrens left me wanting to know more about what technicians and clinicians know about the Equiscope and the myriad of uses, including veterinary medicine. I believe that there is an opportunity here for Chris Ahrens and the public to know more about the Equiscope, Acuscope, Myopulse and the Neuroscope. These medical devices are in our office at Body Craft and as you have mentioned in your article, at Thorp Institute in Encinitas. They are used in tandem with natural remedies (herbs, supplements), behavior modification, and exercise. I encourage Chris Ahrens to do service to the San Diego public, and honestly the United States, to investigate further into these awesome instruments. I certainly know Chris Ahrens will not regret it and neither will many of those in the San Diego community who could benefit greatly from treatments of these specialized instruments. I am hopeful that Chris Ahrens and the public will ask more and when they are ready I am certain that myself, my colleague and mentor Ryu Kawajiri and the folks at Intel.bio and the Thorp Institute (John and Lisa Thorp) will be happy to expand on the almost limitless clinical application of these instruments. Thank you, Dr. Erick Cervantes MPH, ND.— July 20, 2022 11:06 a.m.
