DUI patrol yields few intoxicated drivers following Poinsettia Bowl
Watching your home team (and alma mater) lead for 3 quarters then fall apart in the last does have a sobering effect. And as for other side's fans; how many DUI's would you expect from the Mormon community? Then lastly, 9 bucks for a Bud light? I only had one beer at the game, and truth be told, my wife drank most of that one.— December 21, 2012 4:41 p.m.
Issa committee used taxpayer funds to attack Obama, says reform group
They don't even have color comics on weekdays.— November 8, 2012 6:46 p.m.
Las Vegas developer linked to late mobster puts yet more campaign cash into San Diego GOP
How is Carl DeMaio 'assisting' the developer with construction of the FBI headquarters? Is this statement meant to accuse Carl DeMaio fo some back room fixing of something? I'm no DeMaio fan, but I might like to have some ammo to use in discussions I have with friends who are.— October 3, 2012 5:15 a.m.
Tilted Kilt waitresses and other San Diego bar girls sound off
San Diego has more men than women, in almost every age group. Has for decades. Look at the census figures. And I don't think the census counts military members in their duty station, so that adds to the ratio big time. When I was dating, over 20 years ago, a matchmaker author chose San Diego as the best place in the US for a woman to find a man, by a far margin. There is no corrresponding city in the US with as heavy a woman/man ratio in the other direction. I could go on and on about this. So, San Diego is easy for the ladies. My solution? I married; a foreigner without an 'attitude' (she already lived here, graduated from college here, had all her family here, so I didn't 'import' her ). Now my 21 year old daughter takes big advantage of the "scene" herself. And I get to meet all the guys whose heart she's breaking. Life goes on.— August 31, 2012 6:44 a.m.
San Diego Wants to Extend Red Light Camera Ticketing, Bid Document Reveals
What a great question for our mayoral candidates. "Will you get rid of red light cameras?" I know the mayor alone may not have that power, but just the opinion would change, or at least set, some people's minds. This is an issue I could get behind.— August 23, 2012 1:36 p.m.
San Diego Wants to Extend Red Light Camera Ticketing, Bid Document Reveals
I absolutely agree. If it was sent to me personally, I'd have laughed. But as I said, it was a company accountant somewhere in North Carolina that received it, and told me I had to pay it. So, being only $20, and not needing to make waves, I did. I just wonder where the people that sent the ticket got the information, as I was there In Victorville at that time. Do you think it was a camera, or photo, that was not being used by the city per se, but a private company? Anyway, just wanted to relay a really weird story. And of course, it didn't have my name on the ticket, nor did my company send my name to them. Heck, a parking ticket would have been more expensive.— August 23, 2012 1:31 p.m.
San Diego Wants to Extend Red Light Camera Ticketing, Bid Document Reveals
I drive a company owned pickup, which is also for my personal use. My company fleet manager received a strange ticket from some agency in Arizona that said I'd run a red light in Victorville, and had some officer's name on it. My fleet administrator insisted I pay for it, and I did (no option here). Ironic thing is, the ticket was only for $20. I was in Victorville that day, and could have easily done the right turn without fully stopping, so it was probably legit. But, $20?— August 23, 2012 6:08 a.m.
El Cajon Electrical Engineer Financed Son's Failed Judicial Bid with $141,230
I don't get it. What does his occupation (electrical engineer) have to do with this? Are you implying an electrical engineer is somehow, what, suspicious to have 140K to spend on his son? Do you envy electrical engineer's income? Do you think they are what, overpaid? Or maybe, you're implying they are so naive they'd waste hard earned money on the whims of their offspring. How would you title your occupation, Matt? Do you have any sons worth 140K? Many years ago, I think it was the Orange County Register that polled people to find which occupation they considered to be the most trustworthy (i.e., doctor, lawyer, journalist, teacher, preacher, nurse, ect). Guess who won. Aerospace engineer was found the most trustworthy. Bummer. Missed it by that much. I worked in aerospace. But utilities pay more. Fixing things for utilities pays even more yet than working directly for them. I only wish my offspring could run for Judge. I'd waste money on that.— August 16, 2012 9:44 p.m.
Nathan Fletcher To Hold Fundraiser For Victims Of Aurora Shootings
Or, he could be just as disturbed as the rest of us, and wonders how in the world can he (or we) possibly do anything positive in this tragedy. Since the shooter is one of San Diego's spawns, I'd think we could do something. Anything.— July 28, 2012 9:14 p.m.
Drunk Rescued, Arrested on Hiking Trail
Was she a state legislator? Maybe it was prescription drugs. Maybe she found that St. Bernard mountain rescue dog with that mini-keg on his collar. In any case, bwa-hahahaha. What a maroon! There's GOT to be more to this story.— July 25, 2012 11:13 p.m.
