I'm a Valley Center resident and would like to ask members of my community to help me with my fundraiser. I am participating in a gaming marathon called Extra Life for the third consecutive year, in which I'm collecting donations to benefit Rady Childrens Hospital San Diego. The marathon entails me playing a game of any sort--mobile, console, board, etc--for 25 hours straight in order to raise funds for this Childrens Miracle Network Hospital. I have raised more than $800 and $600 over the past two years, respectively, and every cent of it benefits Rady whether my goal is met or not. This year, I have some very cool giveaways for which you can enter to win by making a donation anywhere from $5-$10. If you or someone you know is a fan of the Dead Space game series, this would be the perfect opportunity to get involved. Please find my participant page [here][1], and for details on the Dead Space contest, please follow the link to my article [here][2]. All contributions are tax-deductible and again, 100% goes to charity. Feel free to share these URLs with others who may be interested. Thank you for reading! Michelle Q. Downtown: Nose to the phos at Pho Xpress
Your attempt to alliterate with the phrase "Nose to the phos" doesn't quite work because the pronunciation of pho is *fuh* (like the word "fun" without the "n"). Also, it isn't oyster sauce that's on the tables in pho restaurants, but rather, Hoisin sauce. It's like the Asian equivalent of a barbecue sauce, whereas oyster sauce is made from oysters and has a milder, sweeter taste and lighter texture. You were correct in your guess of Thai basil as the accommodating herb. Glad you enjoyed your experience, and thanks for highlighting a dish that, as a Vietnamese American, I grew up with as comfort food.— February 2, 2013 10:52 a.m.
