It has been six years since Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans and the surrounding areas. Monique Verdin's photographs of her Native American family reflect on multiple generations living in the threatened wetlands, a massive and devastated territory between the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers. Detailed maps investigate the complex relationships between the geological, infrastructural, and ecological layers in the Delta region while exposing a legacy of industrial manipulation that is currently challenging the largest delta in North America with an uncertain fate. Additional photographs by Verdin at www.moniquemichelle.com. Artist lecture at 7 p.m. following reception.— September 1, 2011 7:40 a.m.
