Public Records Suggest Southwestern College Used Public Funds Frivolously
I regret the fifteen years of payroll deductions ($30 and then later $35 per month) for the Foundation because I thought it was going for student scholarships. No more! I am sponsoring my own scholarship. The thought of Chopra and Salcido and their developer friends enjoying cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on my dime sickens me.— October 22, 2010 6:20 a.m.
The Blur Between Southwestern College and Foundation
For many years I had had money deducted for the Foundation from my paycheck every month, even was persuaded to increase it a few years ago, because I believed the money went to student scholarships. Earlier this year the Foundation held a Gala which I planned to attend as I have in the past, but they obviously did not want faculty there. When I asked about tickets, I was told they were all sold. A member of the Counseling faculty said she went to take pictures and was treated badly. Wondering if the true reason for the Gala was to foster relations between the administration/Governing Board and developers/vendors, I cancelled all contributions to the Foundation. If you are still contributing to them, you might want to reconsider.— October 14, 2010 6:09 a.m.
