I will say this for Tom Krasovic who was the UT Padres beat writer at the time: Ted Lightner, a huge cheerleader for Prop C, had Tom on the radio and asked him if he agreed with Prop C assuming of course that Tom would absolutely say yes. Tom said something to the effect that he thought the city had better uses for public money. Ted actually was speechless for a few seconds thinking he must have heard wrong.
