neighborhoods/ocean-beach -- Ocean Beach
Are Californians too stupid for freedom? This is a very serious question. It seems those in California are willing to let go of their rights at a drop of a hat. The lack of organization, the excess of imposing on other people, the indoctrination and the complacency.... it's getting a little difficult to stick up for the people of this state. Once upon a time the Californian coast was sought after for being the place where freedom could live, the place where business could boom and inventions could take hold. Now we have to watch our step everywhere we go so that normal citizens aren't mistakenly turned into criminals. Instead of officers doing their job, we have changed the laws to accommodate the wishes of a few (no drinking on the beach, no smoking on the grass, no fires at the beach or in the beach home areas) little by little we are turning into a socialist community. And while I know that there are many in the town that love this idea, in the long run it is going to be bad, very very bad. we are literally steps away from having designated human routes in which if we were to veer off and 'harm' wildlife (step on grass) we would be subject to penalties. Please people open your eyes! Freedom isn't about what you can prevent, it's about what you can create. I think everyone needs to think about this and what freedom is just a little bit more. I am VERY open to continuing this conversation and getting insight from others in the neighborhood.— July 12, 2013 9:10 a.m.
