Woodson Mountain
I hiked Mount Woodson many times and the impressive views of San Diego keep me coming back. Walking down the Western face of the Mt. Woodson trail around sunset is stunning on a clear day but keep in mind the park gates close at this time so you may be there for a while =O. I would only recommend this hike for the cooler days and you should bring plenty of water. When it was around 95 degrees I drank more than 2 Liters of water so it is a good thing I brought more. This is one of the best local training hikes if you want to get in shape or have grandiose hiking aspirations. If you want more of a challenge the second time around try it from the Blue Sky Reserve. This would give you around 10 miles out and back and you can enjoy the extra elevation gain.— October 8, 2008 9:45 a.m.
