Water Balloon Strikes in Bird Rock
Water balloons are a big improvement over eggs. I have had raw eggs thrown at me twice walking along Mission Blvd in PB in the early evening. And both of these are less damaging than throwing stuff off freeway overpasses, which seems to have died down in recent years.— August 1, 2011 10:19 a.m.
Worst Dressed
There really is no shortage of "flip flops, ratty shorts, and uncombed hair" in San Diego. It's pretty much the uniform west of the 5.— July 23, 2011 4:54 p.m.
Mid-City Rapid Transit: A Rapid Waste: NOT What We Voted For!
I am also a huge transit fan. I use it every day. And I live in that neighborhood. I also think this is a terrible plan. As I understand it, the plan is to have a DEDICATED bus lane. And as anyone who uses MTS knows, most bus routes are very infrequent and there's very little chance of that changing. So for the vast majority of the day, that lane will sit there empty. Uncrossable, unusable. Not only a safety problem for pedestrians trying to cross the street, but also for emergency vehicles which will no longer be able to cross Park Blvd at Polk, Lincoln, Howard, etc. If there were guaranteed long term funding to make this a fast, FREQUENT bus, I would be more inclined to give it a chance. But I don't think that's in place, so every 15-30 minutes we'll see a bus. The rest of the time, well I guess that big empty lane will be a safe place for pedestrians to hang out waiting to run across the road. (Too bad for wheelchairs, strollers, shoppers with buggies.)— June 3, 2011 12:29 p.m.
San Diego's One-of-a-Kind Spirits Festival
That's a classy logo they have. You get legs in the air for only $50? Bargoon!— April 25, 2011 9:08 p.m.
What's the greatest invention of your lifetime?
So many choices... Batter Blaster, Snuggies, the KFC Double Down... guess I'll go with the computer.— March 12, 2011 6:31 p.m.
Cafe Chloe Looks Vintage
I like the recent reviews but I do miss Tin Fork's previous focus on cheap eats. Ed's tastebuds seem to be evolving - Cafe Chloe is almost on par price-wise with the place Naomi Wise reviewed this week.— February 1, 2011 9:58 p.m.
City Wants Consultant for Managed Competition
Wow! Outsourcing the outsourcing! GENIUS!— September 15, 2010 2:12 p.m.
Ornamental Streetlights Could Curb Crime on El Cajon Boulevard
Wow, I'm really sorry the comment policy forbids profanity. What the BLEEP? I mean, if that area currently has NO street lights then yeah I guess it would be helpful. El Cajon Blvd has really nice decorative street lights in my neighborhood and do you know how much crime it stops? NONE. In fact, the poles are rather a target for stickering. Never mind that about a third of the lights are burned out. Put the million+ dollars into bringing more community policing to that area and it will have a MUCH bigger impact.— September 15, 2010 2:10 p.m.
Socialist Medicine Ballyhooed
Keep that socialism off my social security and medicare! Er...— August 9, 2010 10:42 p.m.
San Diego Bike & Kayak Tours lobbying of Mayor Jerry Sanders
While it's tempting to portray the La Jolla Shores business people as whiny NIMBY complainers, the kayak businesses there could do a lot more to encourage good behavior. They don't really have the room for the crowds they now attract. I don't live in La Jolla Shores, but I do go down there from time to time and the clots of clueless kayakers take over the entire sidewalk and refuse to move out of the way. You end up having to walk in the street and it's flat-out dangerous.— May 31, 2010 10:18 a.m.
