Mr. Bauder: is there a pension fund system federal/ state/ local/ public / private that ISN'T circling the drain? Have they ALL collapsed? (We all know Social (In)security is bankrupt).— March 14, 2009 12:15 p.m.

I hate to be a copy cat, so like Elixir stated so eloquently: "Mr. Bauderchev: Tear down this thread." By Elixir 9:32 a.m., Mar 6, 2009— March 10, 2009 2:22 p.m.

By the way JW and JF, from now on, when surfbillyvegasbob insults you all with his GED -8th - grade - education garbage, just IGNORE IT PLEASE. Pretend he's not even there in the thread. There will be a lot more space available on the SD Reader website if you just don't rise up and take his bait. Hell, I even saw him on the Orange County Register website where he called himself JohnnyVegasBaby and called the public employees up there the same thing. "I like you furball :)" By SurfPuppy619 Great. I'm liked by some guy who obviously has no job but just sits around all day on the old keyboard typing insults to people. Lucky me. From now on, I shall IGNORE HIM, and I strongly suggest you and JF do the same.— March 10, 2009 2:16 p.m.

No, I'm not SLOP. I do feel empathy for the City workers who actually believed that the City was ACTUALLY GOING TO LIVE UP TO ITS PROMISES OF REPAYMENT of it's loans from SDCERS and ended up getting the upraised middle finger instead. I also feel empathy for the taxpayers who keep getting promises from the City that it will maintain the same level of services when we all know that there is no money coming into the City to do so.— March 10, 2009 2:02 p.m.

Regarding the Pension...the City will NEVER pay back to SDCERS what it took from the Fund to pay Petco, the GOP Convention, Charger's Ticket Guarantee, Faberge Eggs exhibit, and so on. The employees will NEVER roll back their benefits knowing that, from now on, any increases to bring them back up to current levels will have to be voted on by the public. The income going into the City's coffers will remain at stuck in time at 1980's levels because the citizens will NEVER vote to increase their own tax rate equal to that of the other 10 largest cities in the state. I surmise the future will be - less public servants - especially Police and Fire and Lifeguards (should make surfpuppy happy), monthly trash pickup (of course it will still be free), parks full of weeds (and homeless), potholed streets (got that already), and more water main breaks.— March 9, 2009 11:47 p.m.

I THOUGHT this article by Mr Bauder was all about how SDCERS investments crashed (with the rest of the planet), and now I see it's circled around yet again (for the umpteenth time) back to stupid, undereducated, overcompensated, under worked, etc., etc., public servants - claims by some guy who hasn't YET stated HIS line of work at all in this thread, only to be countered by a couple guys who, yet again, state the fact that the City of SD is, and always will be, lagging behind in compensation to it's employees due to the fact that the tax base here in SD is, for all intents and purposes, non-existent. Could you guys PLEASE knock off this incessant pissing contest with each other and just stick to the topic at hand -i.e. the Pension?— March 9, 2009 11:25 p.m.

One promises a high rate of return, the other a low rate of return, both funded by new people taken into the system. Am I correct, Mr B?— March 5, 2009 6:45 p.m.
