Free Verse is a classic rock band based in San Diego County. The new Free Verse is a revival of the Free Verse band founded in 1972 in Chicagoland.

From the beginning, the band’s tradition has been versatility and dance-ability.

BIOGRAPHIES

Al Mora, Guitar, Vocals, Songwriting - Al Mora began playing guitar in 1974. In 1980 he joined Free Verse and worked full-time with them until 1987. Al then played in two other full-time bands, most notably the Chicago Bulls official band, Together. Al re-formed Free Verse in 1993. Until 2012, Al and his daughter performed as a duo, and they released an originals CD, From London to LA by Free Verse, available on iTunes. From 2012 to 2016, Al performed as a solo act in a number of San Diego County venues including Relm, Fifth Street Cafe, and Seafire Grill. In 2016, Al formed Free Verse once again as a four-piece lineup.

Gerry Duran, Keyboards, Vocals, Songwriting - Gerry Duran’s credits include composing, recording, and performing for a number of years with Reeves Gabrels, David Bowie’s guitarist for twenty years. Gerry’s voice is a beefed-up blend of Dr. John and Ray Charles, and his keyboard playing is a blend of jazz luminary Jimmy Smith and Jimi Hendrix.

Doug Parent, Bass, Vocals - Doug Parent has performed with a number of popular bands in Minnesota, Los Angeles, and San Diego, including multi-platinum artist Maxine Nightingale.

Ceaser Ivie, Drums, Vocals - Ceaser Ivie's versatile, precise, and tasteful drumming reflects his influences from jazz great Buddy Rich to power rocker Keith Moon. Ceaser has performed with a number of world-renowned acts including the Beach boys, Chicago, and Cher.
