First Big Shoe Drops in Next Crash; Citigroup Reports Big Loss in Credit Card Securitization
Yes, the house of cards is falling all around us due to the false economy we have been engaged in for a very long time. Do you remember when Ross Perot referred to NAFTA as the large succing sound?? Well, he was right. Thanks to the Council on Foreign Relations, The G-7 or 8, The United Nations, etc., our country has been sold down the river. Washington has not leveled with the public to let them know what is really in store for them. They are just the dumb public paying the bill. After all, you can't turn 3rd world countries around and bring all the trading countries under one operation unless you make them equal. So, we have encouraged our industries and manufacturing to move to 3rd world countries, avoid taxation and get cheap labor. We see nothing in our retail stores made in the U.S. and yet the prices are not cheap. Now we are seeing the outcome of the loss of jobs in the U.S. Without those jobs there is no money to buy these foreign made goods. So our government has come up with the solution..."Stimulus Checks" a form of welfare for our citizens who have no jobs and no money. And, we have candidates of our 2 party system saying they will resolve the problem. I doubt that very much. We have been on this downhill spiral for a long time. It didn't start with subprime mortages. Incrementalism— October 31, 2008 6:04 p.m.
Here Is Double Talk That Only a Corporate Welfare-Loving Jock Worshipper Could Disregard
Fred Williams is right. Elect Mike Aguire. Mike has done an unbelieveable job exposing corruption in San Diego. These public officials come and go and the tax payers are left with the bill and the problems. Those behind the city politicians just keep on buying more new politicians to keep the power to control. WE are short of good leadership that can stand up against this ongoing power hold of our government. Good leaders know you have to manage within your budget. That practice has been missing for a long time. Serious Business— October 31, 2008 5:49 p.m.
San Diego Lead Indicators Plunge from Year Ago; All Local Components Down
If this depression lingers on, it would seem fewer people would be spending money on vacations to San Diego. Since tourism has been the mantra for the city leaders and developers, there may be a lot of empty hotel rooms available. Ella— October 31, 2008 5:27 p.m.
Filner, Aguirre Say Sempra's $100,000 Gift to Lincoln Club Smacks of Attempt to Buy Election
It appears to me the Lincoln Club is more than a suspected money laundrying machine. The dots keep on connecting in such a way that it appears to keep a certain power in control. Thanks to the great investigative reporting of Don Bauder and Mat Potter we are better informed, although it is difficult to comprehend unless one stays on the trail of this news on a regular basis. Thanks to The Reader for the publication of the information. It seems the U.T. is reluctant to keep the public as well informed. Thankful— October 31, 2008 5:11 p.m.

Mayor Dick Murphy, after beating Donna Frye, resigns
Checking info on Stickle and Sanders. Stickle is candidate for city of Coronado Mayor. There has been no information in any media about his past recently printed. Nothing in his statements indicate he has been involved with any past banking problems. He has stated he is co-founder of Coronado First Bank and it is said that Sanders is on the Board of Directors. Could you provide some of the background history in a brief statement to let voters know Mr. Stickle's past relationships and shady associations in the financial world.
