What is brominated vegetable oil and why do soda companies put it in their drink?
Brominated vegetable is one of those ingredients that makes you think: why has it been banned in more than 100 countries, but not the United States? The FDA says it's safe - but they also said Vioxx was safe, the FDA isn't exactly infallible. And evidence does show excessive intake of BVO can cause serious health problems. I was reading about this todat at www.drinkvivi.com they're making a carbonated soft drink without any artificial ingredients, like BVO or HFCS Why can't we figure out an alternative to brominated vegetable oil, the rest of the world has.— June 18, 2008 11:33 a.m.
