Kubo and the Two Strings
You guys misspelled "George Takei"...— December 4, 2016 6:04 p.m.
Moana
I agree with this reviewer. I'm a person of color as well and have to admit that Moana wasn't as strong as some of the Disney animated movies of the Golden Age (Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, et al) for the reasons that the reviewer offered. However, it is FAR from being a flop. Moana is rightly praised to the degree that it is right now because of its amazingly strong female heroine (Auil'i Cravalho is someone we should be looking out for in the near future) and for the palpable presence of Pacific Islander culture that the film was able to embody. That's a quality where Disney has failed over and over again until now. Chinese culture and mythology in Mulan, in particular, was an offensive joke. I'd definitely rewatch this film some day (the music is awesome), but I probably wouldn't be moved to see it in theaters again. But wow. You thought Kubo was a snoozer? You're crazy haha.— December 4, 2016 6 p.m.
