calmer heads MUST prevail. we can not allow john mccann to torpedo what many of us want which is a new beginning. he is desperate, the refusal of many parents to acknowledge him as the great reformer at bonita high has obviously set him on a downward spiral - and he is doing what he always does - react in a less than normal manner. in my opinion the man has severe emotional issues. he wants to be seen as somebody, the problem is the somebody we now see him for is an opportunist and a liar. he continues to tell anyone who will listen that he the ONLY PATRIOT IN THE CROWD AT THE LAST BOARD MEETING stood up for liberty and justice for all. well truth be told, he has done just the opposite. no matter what side of the fence you are on you have to be asking the tough question - while he walks like a republican and tries to talk like a republican he is a john mccann. what that is no one truly knows. again opportunist is the only adjective that comes to mind. he is not a fiscal conservative, for he is allowing himself to be used by brand so brand can demand as much money as he can get. why didn't john mccann stand up to brand regarding the double dipping, a real conservative would have. so let us see mccann for what he is - 1 - hopefully cartmill, ricasa, and quinones, (well never mind about quinones - she would not understand the conversation even if i colored it in the pearl quinones coloring book )- will take johnny boy aside and ask him as politely as they can TO ZIP IT CLOSED (his mouth that is). hopefully THE TWO OF THEM will look to the future of SUHSD and begin to build a new foundation - while none of us can change the past we surely can work towards a better future.— September 14, 2012 2:06 p.m.

anniej What you suggest makes sense. Surely the board members will at least consider taking the first step towards a new beginning by advising Dr. Brand that he does not need to consider returning. I too have heard the horror stories regarding Mrs. C. I am not saying she is a bad person I am saying she does not have the trust or respect of those she has now been charged with leading. The person in charge should be able to carry out the responsibilities of the job and have the respect of those who report to her. You ask if it makes sense to the board members well it makes sense to me. My eyes are going to be fixed on Mr. Mc Cann and Mr. Cartmill the power to change things are in their hands.— September 14, 2012 12:47 p.m.

Wabbit - Another group that should be included on the thank you list are all of the SUHSD employees who bravely came forward with information. I would like to think that if given the opportunity I would have done so as well. I simply can not understand Mr. Cartmill or Mr. McCann. Why would they continue to protect Dr. Brand. His abandonment of his position should give them the direction they need. If they want to prove to the us that they are looking out for our best interests then they should hold a press conference and announce that Dr. Brand has resigned. With the no confidence petition being circulated and a no confidence letter from the bond oversight committee what is this board thinking? Why would the board offer a contract to someone who the voters have no confidence in? There is simply no understanding what is going on, the only answer that comes across my mind is cover up of illegal activity. Mrs. Ricasa, Mr. Cartmill and Mr. Mc Cann are acting in a questionable manner. Perhaps it is time to contact the authorities. Dr. Brand left during a grand jury investigation maybe it is time to file the paper work asking that they begin a thorough investigation to reveal the truth.— September 8, 2012 6:31 p.m.

Filner releases education plan
This will be the first time that I will not be voting for Bob Filner. I live in the small city of Bonita, Ca and am thoroughly disgusted by his refusal to do put partisan politics aside and declare his outrage at what is occurring in the Sweetwater district issues. The only interest he seems to have had in education down here in our parts is rumored to be Mrs. Quionenes. Filner is simply not the right choice.— September 7, 2012 3:53 p.m.
No Confidence Vote For SUHSD Superintendent Ed Brand Being Circulated
perhaps an email could be sent to all of the board members directing them to read this blog. the community is indeed fed up and at last WE ARE UNITED. as united as we were back in june of 2011, as united as we were at the hilltop high meeting, as united as we were at the sweetwater meeting. we were promised much by ed brand and our board yet they have delivered nothing but gut wrenching blows that affect our children and our pocket books. too bad john mccann brokered the brand deal without public input - perhaps if the taxpayers would have been given an opportunity to comment on the superintendent position brands past would have been brought to our attention. the next time someone makes the statement "i have sweetwater running thru my blood" as brand did we should ask when did you have the transfusion, and WHO was the donor.— September 4, 2012 8:31 a.m.
