Excessive Labor Costs Force Vallejo to Vote for Bankruptcy
Try looking at the detailed list of Vallejo's salaries. The one that includes OT pay and one time pesion payouts. It gives a little different picture than the incomplete list JV keepsposting. http://ibvallejo.com/docs/employee_wages_031908_b…— May 9, 2008 10:24 a.m.
California Is in Such a Financial Quagmire That There Could Be Municipal Bankruptcies
Response to # 99: Joann West received a 1 time payout from the city in the amount of $238,964.00. There was no over time involved in this payout. She is one of a number of retiring city employess who did this. If you took the time to review the entire list, you would see that there were only 35 people who earned over 100k base without overtime. In ather otherwords, salaried city employees. of this total, only 6 were PD and 3 FD. If you look at the rest of the employees who earned over 100k, the vast majority, close to 90%, were FD who worked extensive overtime. According to the mayor, this was due to the inordinate number of FD employees who left to go to other bay area cities with higher wages/benefits.This information came directly from the City of Vallejo and is there in black and white from several sources if you take the time to look.If you took the time, you would also find out that the City of Vallejo is one of several Bay area cities who have contractual obligations to unions to maintain specific staffing levels on a DAILY basis. That means if they are understaffed on any shift for any reason, they are contractually required to let peope work overtime shifts and offer those shifts to the most senior people first. This is occuring in several Bay area cities including San Francisco. But as always, you simply prefer to make up your "facts", apparently thinking that people believe what you say simply because you say it. Such as your remarks about Social security that were completely erroneous. It's no wonder you display such bitterness towards public workers who make more than you do. I recall one of your rants recently in which you said it was unfair that HS educated city workers make more than you do as a lawyer with a college education. If your arguuements here are any indication of how you argue your cases, I can see why. The truth will set free JohnnyVegas. Or if that is too profound for you, how about this instead: No Shirt, No Shoes, NO DICE !!!— April 8, 2008 11:56 a.m.

A little correction to your SS info there JohnnyVegas. Full benefit retirement age is determined by your DOB. If you were born in 1960 or later, then you receive full benefits @ age 67, earlier if you were born earlier. Retire at age 62, your benefit would be reduced by 30%, 25% at 63, 20% at 64, 13.3 % at 65 and 6.7 % at 66. Receiving only 70% of full benefits is a reduction, but certainly not a " SMALL fraction of what you get when you wait until 67." as you put it. According to data released by SS Administration, the average retirement age in 2002 was between 62 and 62.6 and has been decreasing consistantly for the last 50 years. Also regarding that list of Vallejo salaries you keep throwing out everywhere.Capt Joann West retired after 30years of service. Her 2007 is reflective of a one time retirement payout. According to the information I have been able to find out from people in the area, at least 6 of the people on this list received such retirement payouts. In Fact the Mayor of Vallejo cited these retirement payouts as one of the major reasons for Vallejo financial troubles. If you tried doing little research before you posted your bs you wouldn't look so stupid. But then, who else would we have to make fun of.— April 7, 2008 8:32 p.m.
