Kilroy Realty throws one-million dollars at city lobbyists to help with permits for One Paseo
Thanks for covering this very important story, Dorian! We're not getting this perspective in the U-T. Please continue to bring us great journalism on this project. It's shocking how much money Kilroy is spending to try to force this gargantuan project on the community, and to destroy the community character in order to make up for their making a terrible deal in 2007. We're thrilled that the Mayor and Supervisor Roberts are listening to the citizens of Carmel Valley and trying to stop this project!— February 24, 2013 9:17 a.m.
San Diego Jewish Film Festival turns 23 this week
Great article! I can't wait to go to the festival. I'm most looking forward to Under African Skies, about Paul Simon's Graceland album.— February 6, 2013 11:52 a.m.
Alchemy Chef Proves You Don't Have to be Vegetarian to Do Right By 'Em
Thanks for posting this! Ricardo Heredia is such a cutting-edge thinker as a chef, and he is putting out the most exciting vegetarian food in San Diego. When the U-T printed a feature on the best places for veg food in San Diego, they didn't even include Alchemy - scandalous! He deserves more love for his awesome creations. Thanks for the pictures too - the watermelon salad looks ridiculously good!— August 3, 2011 8:52 a.m.
Dead Restaurant Pool, three more drowned
The good news is that what PuckPR says is technically true: turns out they're not closing for good. But the restaurant itself will be closed for the next 3 mos, until the new season at the playhouse. Til then only catering and private events. Hopefully when they come back in summer business will pick up - apparently they were closed for 6 or 8 weeks in January too (I didn't notice). It would be too sad if they were gone permanently! (had an awesome meal there tonight which reminded me of why it's such a great restaurant).— March 13, 2010 11:17 p.m.
From Disneyland to Ducasse
Glad you liked it too but had better service than we did there! (Cheers to the ebullient French waiter - we saw no one like that the night we were there). I hope Chef Neroni sticks around and that they are in fact cleaning up the front of the house. He is putting out spectacular food if only the service can match (and if the clientele doesn't force him to dumb it down, as your conversation suggests!). Am glad you went and reviewed it!— March 11, 2010 2:03 p.m.
