"Bolt" may not have the level of sophistication as other animated features, most notably the Pixar films, but it's light, bright and entertaining. It contains a lot of laughs and some fun, silly moments, highlighted by the overzealous Rhino, who steals every scene he's in, and a group of twitchy New York pigeons. I enjoyed the high spirit and sense of humor of "Bolt," and while the complete premise may fly over some kids' heads, they'll still enjoy the zany characters and pumped-up action. Adults will like all that plus the satirical jabs at the entertainment industry, even if those jabs have already been taken in other films.— December 8, 2008 10:57 a.m.
Buca di Beppo
The thing about Buca is... it's NOT overwhelmingly incredible food. It's good - but not great. It's more about the experience of sitting at a booth in the kitchen, or around the round table with a bust of the Pope in the middle. The best thing about Buca, is the portions. If you have a large party - the family style portions accomplish the goal of full tummy's without emptying the wallet. The checkered table cloths, chianti and plethora of pasta makes Buca di Beppo a popular restaurant any night of the week.— December 4, 2008 4:42 p.m.
Lefty's Chicago Pizzeria
Best deep dish in San Diego. The sausage there is a homemade secret recipe and is my favorite. It can be hard to find a seat or parking but in between lunch and dinner it isn't a problem. The best part is the PBR on tap for only $2. What more could you ask for when having a slice or two than a cold beer, and the whole crew there is cool.— December 4, 2008 4:38 p.m.
Hancock
I thought the first half of the film was fantastic, then in my opinion it goes down hill dramatically. Dont want to ruin it for anyone who hasnt seen it so I'll try not to give any of the awful plot twist away. I dont see why it was required, the premise of a truely reluctant hero and what happens from there was great, worked well and gave room for lots of comedy etc. I think Will Smith was great and Jason Bateman was excellent but the change of direction really did kill the film for me and I instantly switched off.— November 28, 2008 4:06 p.m.

Kansas City Barbeque
True. It did burn down. I had done this review a while back and decided just to post it anyway!!— November 24, 2008 1:24 p.m.
RA Sushi
This place is not for real sushi eaters. Nothing here on the menu that is out of the ordinary. Simple every day menu offerings at high prices. The only thing I liked here was the mango ceviche. Everything else was whatever. Don't order sushi here. You will regret it. First time sushi eaters may get a bad impression. Stick to the rolls and you might be safe. Service is super slow. Only bright side is that they have good looking hostesses. Won't be coming here again.— November 21, 2008 1:23 p.m.
Kansas City Barbeque
Great decor, good location, okay food. If you are a Top Gun fan, you will appreciate the decor. This place is tiny, but it suits it. The juke box pumps out a good combination of oldies and goodies mixed with newer songs. As for the food, I have mixed reviews - the bbq beef ribs were dry, the rib tips were reasonable and the chicken was good. As for the sides, the fries are normal, the coleslaw has red/green peppers and is completely peppered (like salt and pepper) out, the corn is excellent (soft and drenched in butter), and the onion rings are phenomenal.— November 21, 2008 1:18 p.m.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Forgetting Sarah Marshall is both hilarious and honest. The leads are all charming even the ones your not supposed to like. There really is no badguy just flawed characters who are not quite sure what they want (like real people). While both Bell and Kunis are cute it's the men who stand out. Jason Segel is a real expressive actor and one can see his pain through his tone of voice and facial expressions and his screenplay is truley sweet and really very funny. Russel Brand is hysterical as the quintessential, self-righteous, British rockstar type who Marshall falls for. Furthermore, this one stands with the rest of the Apatow greats. It may not be your favorite, that all depends, but it definitely is in the same league as Knocked Up, The 40 Year Old Virgin, and Superbad; raunchy, but not without heart. If you liked the others this ones made of the same material and still delivers a fresh product. The bit parts by the usual suspects: Hader, Rudd, Hill, and others are laugh-out-loud funny.— November 19, 2008 4:43 p.m.
Jackie Brown
In Jackie Brown, Tarantino is light years away from the top shape he showed in either Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs. In fact, if it weren't a QT film, nobody would have talked about it and it would have quietly faded away into anonimity. The reason for this disappointment? Elmore Leonard's novels may look wonderful on paper but are too complex and slow-paced to be translated into movies. All the attempts to do so have failed miserably. Nevertheless, there are some wonderful moments in the film. I liked the scene where Samuel L. Jackson kills that young boy, it tells you 'hey, this is not the funny guy we've laughed at a couple of scenes before, this is a dangerous, cold-blooded killer'. It was a very important moment in the movie. All in all, Jackie Brown is a movie worth seeing. Oh, and excellent performances by Pam Grier and Robert Forster.— November 19, 2008 4:38 p.m.
