DA Bonnie Dumanis addresses San Carlos community
Props for getting the word "harridan" into a blog comment. Well done. Bonnie will be reelected primarily because there's no one with any significant stature in the legal community to run against her. She has all of Bill Kolender's old downtown Republican political machine working for her, and she's done a pretty good job of keeping both her own deputies and the law enforcement community happy with her policies. I'd like to see a more competitive race for our District Attorney, but San Diego doesn't seem to have the bench for it. She'll probably get elected as many times as Ed Miller did if she doesn't badly screw something up.— March 10, 2013 10:11 p.m.
None
Most dogs are loyal and friendly, which is why this one is confused as to why you'd use a dog picture with a discussion about the morning moron Chip Franklin. Everybody has to get their market share, I guess, and Chip Franklin seems to draw the same mouth-breather demographic as John and Ken up in LA. P.T. Barnum and H.L. Mencken were both correct about people in general. Chip Franklin proves it once more.— August 28, 2011 1:34 p.m.
Imprudence Not Unconstitutional, Says Appeals Court
JustWondering does have a point, Don. The City of San Diego has been running their operations "on the cuff" for most of the last half century, and now the long deferred bills are coming due. It's long past time for San Diego to develop the tax revenue streams that are the norm for large cities, not only in California but in the U.S. and across the world. Trash fees, water fees, TOT, business licensing, permits, etc. should all reflect the "market" prices of similarly sized and situated cities, not some kind of backwater Navy town run by Pete Wilson, Copley, and their Republican cronies.— January 28, 2011 1:38 p.m.
Broke cities (including San Diego)
Seen this report, Don? http://www.nirsonline.org/storage/nirs/documents/… Fresh data showing that when you compare apples with apples, public employees really are paid less than those in the private sector - that includes the pension benefits. Regards!— April 29, 2010 10:07 a.m.
